Wow, not only is Google Docs free but the features it is adding are amazing.
Google Docs can now perform OCR on digital images. You can upload an image containing typewritten or printed text (like a fax document or a scanned newspaper clipping) to your Google Docs account and it will turn that image into editable text.
Google Docs successfully extracts all the text from a scanned book page and converts it into an editable document.
This can really be a pain to do on your own PC (or MAC) if you don’t have the correct tools or the correct knowledge.
It is also a function that you might use a couple of times a year so why would you go out and buy those special tools anyway ?
So now Google docs does it for free. The desktop and domination of Microsoft Office is headed for it’s biggest challenge yet.
